P1 INTRODUCES WIGGY – MALAYSIA'S MOST ADVANCED & HOTTEST USB MODEM
P1's first on-the-go offering combines smart technology, high-performance & killer looks in one sleek package

KUALA LUMPUR - Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. ("P1") – Malaysia's first and leading WiMAX telco recently introduced the WIGGY – a revolutionary USB WiMAX modem that incorporates advanced technologies and a sleek, sexy look to deliver a new level of on-the-go broadband performance.

WIGGY is a breakthrough Internet device that harnesses the power of P1 W1MAX in one compact and head-turning package delivering speeds that completely redefines what users can do online.

"WIGGY is a device that's perfectly suited to enable Life 2.0. The internet today is a hive of activity driven by a growing number of consumers who are more open and willing to produce, contribute and share information & entertainment online to a global audience. They are eager to share and upload their lives on the net and WIGGY is perfectly suited to compliment this," said Michael Lai, Chief Executive Officer, P1.

Apart from a hugely enticing WIGGY-Intel powered notebook bundle offer (see below), the launch of the WIGGY Ambassador Program will no doubt deepen the collaboration that started actively in May 2008 when Intel Capital invested RM50 million in P1 via Green Packet. Intel's collaboration with the world's leading 2.3GHz band WiMAX telco will make quality broadband available on a larger scale in Malaysia.

The WIGGY ambassador program sees the participation of some of Malaysia's favourite local personalities and celebrities taking home Intel-powered notebooks and P1 WIGGYs. They include Audi Mok, music producer; Joey G, music deejay and entrepreneur; Chef Ismail, celebrity chef and restaurateur; Oon Yeoh, The Edge's New Media Editor; Bernard Hiew, "MY Astro Chart Show" host; Hujan, noted local "indie" (independent) band and nominee for Best New Artiste, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album in Anugerah Industri Muzik 2009; Alan Yun, actor and entrepreneur; and Ida Nerina, celebrated actress, producer and third-place finisher of the Amazing Race Asia Season 3 last year.

"Advanced technology applies largely to the kind of work that I do because producing music requires a lot of multitasking on my computer. I'm sure with Intel's new and improved technology and P1's high-speed wireless broadband service I'll be able to transfer, download and record music without any glitches on-the-go," said Mok.

"The combination of Intel and P1 W1MAX is a recipe for success. I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of this programme. Some of you may not know, in my area of expertise, technology plays a significant role. I do quite a bit of of research online to find the origins & makings of selected cuisines, some of which also require me to download videos. Intel and P1 W1MAX connect me to the world of cuisine," said Chef Ismail.

"If only Tania and I were allowed to bring a notebook or netbook with an on-the-go high speed wireless broadband during our incredible race and amazing journey around the world last year, we may have been the ones who came home with the big cheque. I'm so excited to get jiggy with my WIGGY! And of course, try out my new Intel powered notebook with the high speed wireless broadband connection from P1 W1MAX" said Ida.

WIGGY's launch is seen as a great leap forward by the world's leading chipset manufacturer, Intel. Intel's mission of advancing the uptake of WiMAX technology within the region is perfectly in line with P1's commitment to deliver quality broadband, easily accessible and affordable in Malaysia.

"Intel is pleased to have played a role in helping advance the broadband ecosystem in Malaysia by collaborating with P1 to launch WIGGY. Our joint marketing and promotional activities and bundling programmes with Intel-powered Acer netbooks and notebooks will provide consumers with more choices and an enriching Internet experience," said Ajay Mathur, Head of Marketing and Consumer Sales, South East Asia, Intel.

WIGGY is offered at attractive prices and packages, making cutting edge technology available to more people. P1 and Intel along with Acer are limited numbers of the latest high-end Acer Aspire One Netbook utilising the energy-efficient Intel Atom processor for free with subscription of the WIGGY.

WIGGY along with the attractive bundling packages will be available at P1's headquarters – PacketHub – on Jalan Templer, Petaling Jaya and at all authorised P1 dealers and resellers. The packages can be viewed here.
