KUALA LUMPUR - NEC Corporation of Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. ("NEC") and Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd ("P1") have inked an agreement to jointly promote both NEC and P1 products and solutions in Malaysia. With P1 as the next-generation telecommunications provider and NEC being the technology partner, this is the first time the two companies are partnering to bring together the collective strengths and benefits of both NEC’s and P1’s technologies and products to SMEs and SoHos.
The first of a series of promotions under this collaboration is the launch of "SIP-in-a-box" – a telecommunications solution based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking, where NEC will provide its IP-PABX (SL1000 and SV8000 series) while P1 provides the fibre broadband and 4G wireless connectivity.
SIP trunking is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and streaming media service based on the SIP by which Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) deliver telephone services and unified communications to customers equipped with SIP-based private branch exchange (IP-PBX) and Unified Communications facilities.
Mr Michael Lai, CEO of P1 said, "We’re thrilled to be partnering with a prominent brand like NEC. We believe that through this winning partnership, local enterprise business owners will be able to enjoy not only the latest but state-of-the-art technologies that both parties will provide. As such, we look forward to a beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration with NEC."
SIP trunking is the way to go for businesses moving forward. The key benefit of SIP trunking is the ability to scale up or down according to a business’ needs merely through software programming instead of being restricted by the traditional PSTN ports available in a specific location. Another noteworthy benefit is the cost savings on call charges and maintenance – two important elements of businesses in a competitive environment today, Lai added.
NEC has been developing telecommunications and networking products and solutions for more than a century now. From its first desktop telephone in 1899, to its PABX, IP and the latest Unified Communications solutions, NEC has come a long way in the development of telecommunications technologies over the years. As a leading telephony solutions provider bringing its latest network systems and solutions to the local market since the 1960s, NEC has been expanding its technologies and developing its capabilities as a total solutions provider in Malaysia over the past two decades.
Mr Andrew Lee, Managing Director at NEC Corporation of Malaysia said, "We’re excited about our collaboration with P1, a leading 4G operator in Malaysia. I believe this combination of NEC as a total solutions provider, together with P1’s telecommunication services, will empower and benefit many enterprises and businesses. We hope this partnership will be the start of a sustainable relationship where both NEC and P1 can jointly present our latest IT and telecommunications technologies to the Malaysian enterprises and businesses." |
