P1 Gives away Ipads and DSLRs to Video Challenge Winners

PETALING JAYA, Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (“P1”), Malaysia’s first 4G broadband service provider gave away Ipads and DSLR cameras to winners of the “P1 4G Super Broadband Kids - Pimp Our Tagline” online video challenge. During the prize presentation ceremony, Michael Lai, Chief Executive Officer of P1 expressed his jubilance on the number and quality of participation in the challenge. “Most of the participants are in their late teens and early twenties. They’ve demonstrated amazing talent and creativity in their entries. Given the right guidance and potential to develop, I see them to be the directors, composers and producers of the future,” he said.

Prizes were awarded based on two categories, People’s Choice and P1 4G’s Choice. The prize for P1 4G’s Choice is a WiMAX-Ready 4G laptop, the Lenovo IdeaPad V360. The winner, which is the most creative video was voted by P1 4G employees. For the People’s Choice category, the top 3 videos with the highest number of online votes won attractive prizes. The grand prize is a Canon EOS 60D camera and a Wiggy prepaid modem by P1 4G. Second prize wins an iPad 32GB WiFi with 3G and a Wiggy prepaid modem. Third prize wins an iPad 32GB WiFi and a Wiggy modem. The challenge was organized via P1’s Facebook fanpage; P1Buddy from 8 December 2010 to 31 January 2011.

The Grand Prize winner, Ho Kok Chern, 20, a first year student in Graphic Design at A.T.E.C Art & Technology Center, Penang said that he spent three days making the Google Chrome inspired video after getting to know about the competition through P1 Buddy on Facebook. Ho won a Canon EOS 60D camera and Wiggy prepaid by P14G. Pleased with the prizes he won, Ho thanked P1 for allowing him to discover a hidden talent within himself.

Kelvin Kang Kai Wen, 20, the Third Prize winner from Politeknik Ungku Omar, Ipoh had gotten the assistance from his brother David in filming his video. The three-minute capture featured his dancing skills that was going faster and faster. Kelvin thanked the organizer and hoped that P1 would hold more competitions on Facebook. Kelvin bagged iPad 32GB Wifi and a Wiggy prepaid by P1 4G.

Winner of P1’s Choice Video, Clement Chiang, 23 and his team member Daniel Chan have always been keen in videography. Students of HELP University College, they even got their lecturer to act in the video. Winning a Wimax ready 4G Lenovo Ideapad V360 notebook, they have also recently won the Jury Award during the MUFORS Road Reels and inspired to have their films featured on international big screens like Cannes and Sundance Film Festival some day.
