P1 W1MAX - Press Releases

15 July 2009

P1’s latest on-the-go WiMAX plan offers value-for-money and easy access to the country’s largest, fastest WiMAX network at just RM69 monthly.

PETALING JAYA - Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (“P1”), Malaysia’s first and leading WiMAX telco, today introduced WIGGY 69, an affordable on-the-go WiMAX plan utilising the country’s fastest wireless broadband network for only RM69 monthly.

The WIGGY 69 plan was developed based on customer feedback and is targeted at a large market segment that places emphasis on performance at an attractive price above anything else. WIGGY 69 offers the best performance in its class delivering average download speeds of between 600kbps to 700kbps.

The WIGGY 69 plan also offers tremendous value for money in the form of the highest Fair Usage Policy (FUP) monthly data allowance. In the sub-RM100 USB modem market, WIGGY 69 offers a 5 gigabyte (GB) monthly FUP, 60% more than the next competitor, at just 3GB FUP per month.

In addition, based on per GB calculations, WIGGY 69 is priced 60% lower than the nearest competitor.

“The WIGGY 69 plan is a product driven by consumers. A major segment of the portable broadband market is looking for a simple, affordable plan that works for sending out emails, surfing the web and generally enjoying the world of broadband. With a very attractive price combined with Malaysia’s most advanced USB WiMAX modem and P1 W1MAX fastest wireless broadband network, the WIGGY 69 plan will appeal immensely to this segment,” said Michael Lai, Chief Executive Officer, P1.

The WIGGY 69 plan follows P1’s tradition of providing great value-for-money next-generation wireless connectivity. With just RM69 a month, P1 expects the WIGGY 69 to contribute to over half of the on-the-go WiMAX sales in the country.

P1 sees the increase in broadband uptake by the affordable WIGGY 69 plan as a contributor to the nation’s 50% broadband penetration target by 2010. As with all other P1 W1MAX broadband plans, the USB WiMAX modem included in the WIGGY 69 plan is provided free for customer who subscribe to the optional 24 months contract.

“Our mission is and always will be broadband for all. I’ve always believed in the notion that broadband is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Broadband is no longer a privilege but a right. Key to this is affordability and choice. The WIGGY 69 plan is a major addition to our P1 W1MAX line up. P1 W1MAX now offers a selection of plans and packages to satisfy a wide spectrum of the Malaysian broadband market. Be it for customers looking for performance or customers simply wanting to be always connected, there’s always a P1 W1MAX plan for everyone.” Lai explained.

The launch of WIGGY 69 follows in the footsteps of the successful launch of the original WIGGY plan in April 2009. The WIGGY plan remains Malaysia fastest on-the-go broadband product, offering speeds of up to 10Mbps with an average performance of 1 to 3Mbps for RM149 monthly.
